Integrate a custom document into Alfa's analysis
Last updated: March 10, 2026
You can upload custom documentation directly to your profile for Alfa to reference. Adding a custom document enables Alfa to perform a more personalized and holistic analysis, integrating information that is not publicly available into your agents.
Upload a custom document to your profile
To upload a custom document, follow these steps:
Click on the Knowledge tab from the lefthand sidebar.
Click Documents to view a list of your existing uploaded documents.
Click the Add document button located at the top right of the screen.

Drag and drop your file into the upload bar, or browse available files, then click Add documents.
Tip: You can also upload a custom document from any chat by clicking the plus icon and choosing 'Upload from your computer'.
Understand the status of your custom document upload
Uploading a custom document to your Boosted.ai profile takes time, as Alfa must process the information in the document.
Processing
When you upload a document, the first status you see is the Processing status, indicated by a spinning circle icon. This means that Alfa is still processing the information in the document.
Available
Once Alfa finishes analyzing your custom document, it will move to the Available status, indicated by a green check mark. This means the document has been successfully uploaded and the information is available for analysis.
Error
If a document cannot be processed, an error state will occur, indicated by a red 'X' icon. In this case, make sure to check the format of your document (must be a PDF, DOC, DOCX, HTML or TXT) and size (must be less than 100MB).
Privacy surrounding your uploaded custom documents
We understand that privacy surrounding custom document uploads is vital to our users. Your uploaded documents are only visible within your team and are never shared with any other Boosted.ai client, or with our internal team. They are also not used to train our models.
Note: The internal Boosted.ai support team may gain access to an uploaded document only if there is a support ticket raised by a client that requires it.
Limitations as of June 1, 2025
Planner influence
At this time, you cannot use custom documents to influence the planner directly. This means that you can't ask Alfa to "follow the formatting in this document to create a report".
